Did you know that today is International S’mores Day?
I’m not sure why we need a s’mores day. Isn’t every day a great day to eat s’mores?
They have international coffee day as well. Is that necessary? Come on! Let’s be serious. Every day is coffee day!!
Do you realize that they have a day for just about everything now? “Fruitcake Toss Day” is on January 3rd. I guess making an official day for it gives people an excuse to get rid of the strange concoction.
They also have “Old Rock Day”. I’m not sure if that day pays homage to the Beatles and Led Zeppelin or they are talking about slabs of granite from the Jurassic period.
Either way I’m not sure if that day is necessary. Well I guess it would be if you’re giving the Classic Rock Masters their dues.
Not only is it s’mores day today it is also lazy day. Is that a coincidence? I think not. Those two kind of go hand-in-hand.
Picture this, a nice summer day in front of the campfire leaning back in your lawn chair while toasting an impaled marshmallow.
“My favorite vegetable is the marshmallow”- Jim Gaffigan
That seems like a great lazy day to me.
Anyways, this whole international day stuff got me thinking. If everybody else can start making up these special days, why can’t we make our own kick in the butt days?
Let’s make the last day of every month reflection day. You can reflect on the things that happened that month. The good, the bad and the ugly.
Put all these experiences, challenges and milestones into a Word document or make a list on Simpleology. Or if you want to go old-school, write it down on a piece of paper.
Then ask yourself, the following questions:
- How can I use this info to have a better next 30 days?
- What do I need to do more of?
- What do I need to do less of?
- What can I boot out the door never to be seen again?
And let’s make the first day of every month “International Kick Butt Day”!
The key to having a good month is to start strong. So I want you to go all out on the first day of every month. Give 100%. I won’t say give 110% because that’s just impossible. It is probably even impossible to give 100%, but you can come darn close.
Don’t let anything slow you down. This is a no excuse day! I want you to get more done on this day than you did in the previous three days combined.
This will set the stage for an amazing month!
What are your thoughts? Do you have any ideas for international kick in the butt days?
I asked my 12-year-old son, but he wasn’t much help. The only ideas that he came up with was to make every Monday international no school day, and every Friday no homework day.
Why not make your own “International Days”? Pick a day of the month, week or year. Turn it into something that will motivate you to take action on your goals.
Get your family involved. See what you can come up with together. Turn international and national days into something fun to help motivate you and spend more quality time with your family.
Well, that’s my message for the day. It’s now time to go kick some butt!
