Are your thoughts stopping you from reaching your full potential? Are you thinking in pennies when you should be thinking in Franklins?
If you are persistent, positive and determined you can usually find a way to get what you want.
Unfortunately, we live in a negative world. Where everybody tells you that it’s not your fault. That someone else is to blame.
It’s easier to come up with excuses for why things won’t work when you don’t believe that you are in control of your life. There are several aspects of your life that you can control, but most people choose to let someone else pull the strings.
Surrendering control of your life to someone else is a “Thinking In Coins Mindset”.
This was the mindset that I had for many years. I would blame the economy, the government, prairie dogs. Well, not really prairie dogs but you get the point.
I would blame just about everything else in the world except myself. I was refusing to take responsibility. It was far easier for me to accept my situation when I was not the one who was at fault.
Can you hear those coins clinking? The noisy thoughts inside of my head must’ve sounded like a change machine at the local arcade. This coin mindset was fogging my thinking.
It took a while, but I finally realized the folly of this blame game thought process. I decided to take responsibility for my actions and my situation. Soon after that, my life took a 180.
My new perspective helped me tune out the negativity. I quit feeling sorry for myself and started to take action. I turned the spotlight away from others and directed towards myself.
The best way to control your life is to take responsibility for it. How can you change your situation if your mind believes somebody else is to blame? You can’t!
The only way to change your direction is to believe that you can change it. Take responsibility for the things in your life that you have control over.
Then only focus on what you can control, not what is out of your control.
This is the “Thinking Like Cash Mindset”.
You are the director of your life. You run the show. Your life movie will turn into a blockbuster when you get behind the camera and sit in the director’s chair.
Finely focus your camera lens on what you want and what you have control over. Then pan out and blur the images of the things that you have no control over.
This is important because if you spend too much time thinking about what you have no control over you will quickly fall back into the coin mindset.
The following quote from Jesse B. Rittenhouse sums this blog post up perfectly:
“I worked for a menial’s hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have paid.” ― Jessie B. Rittenhouse
