Perfection is a myth, a fable, a fairytale. It only exists in theory and has never been reproduced in the lab. Billions of dollars have been spent trying to prove its existence.
Frustrated scientists and business owners have been trying to create it or somehow capture it on video. At least there are some blurry and fake photos of Bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster.
Perfection will never be caught on film because it is just procrastination wearing a disguise.
Procrastination is a sneaky adversary. It knows that we are on to it and are trying to eliminate it from our life on a daily basis.
That is why procrastination has evolved through the years. It hides in the dark corners of our mind waiting for the perfect time to slither out into the light.
It has found that the best way to present itself is as a trusted friend. This master of disguise can’t reveal its true frightful face, so it appears to you wearing the mask of perfection.
We have been told for years to “Strive for Perfection”, “Practice makes perfect” and countless other perfection quotes. So procrastination knows that the myth of perfection has been ingrained in our minds.
It takes advantage of this fact by telling us that good enough is not good enough. There must be one more thing you can learn before you get started.
If you don’t know everything about a subject your product will not be perfect. If your product is not perfect, people will call you a pretender and laugh at you.
These are just a few of the many ways that procrastination uses perfection to hold you back.
You can always improve things once they have been put out into the world. But you can’t correct a blank page or move a parked car.
Life will never be perfect, your product will never be perfect and your business will never be perfect. Don’t let procrastination tell you different.
Just be the best that you can be. Present to the world the best version of you. Know that the best you is good enough.
